El Comitan, Peace, Tranquility, Beach and Views

La Paz real estate is in demand. Homes for sale in La Paz have not dropped sharply in value.

Mexico real estate is a safe and good investment whether you are  planning to retire here and live permanently in Mexico, or if you are  buying  a Mexican vacation property to rent.

Welcome to a jewel of a neighborhood surrounded by a biological preserve, just 20 minutes from downtown La Paz. With views to die for,  beaches to walk, and neighbors to get to know, El Comitan is the place for you!

In Fact the picture in our header is sunrise at the beach in El Comitan. That is the city of La Paz  across the bay, and the evening city lights view is spectacular!

Bring your bird book, kayak, fishing pole, and flip-flops to El Comitán. Surrounded by a biological preserve and across the bay from La Paz, El Comitán is a neighborhood of sand streets that lead straight to the bay. Two flat beaches are there for your leisure. People launch their pangas (small boats) and kayaks from these beaches, and swimming is safe. Sixty species of birds nest around here. Centuries-old, giant cardon cacti are common, while expansive views of the mountains and bay make this area a nature-lover’s delight.

Several beachfront properties ranging in price from $500,00 to almost $725,000 are for sale in El Comitán. But go just a few blocks off the beach, and you’ll find homes for sale from the low $200,000s. Most have pools, and most lot sizes are a half acre.

Unlike the planned communities, El Comitán is a neighborhood that has grown over time, with a mix of local Mexican residents and U.S. and Canadian expats. There is a small mini-mart and three restaurants inside the community, and the village of El Centenario is a brisk walk away. Removed from the hustle, bustle, and noise of La Paz, El Comitán is tranquil, safe, and rural—yet within minutes to downtown. For those looking for a real neighborhood that offers very affordable housing in a nature setting, El Comitán is a good candidate.
